Leading open source Content Management System
- Co-Founder of the project, also serving as its User Interface
Design Lead.
- Experience in maintaining and evolving a complex application
and underlying framework over 5 years, including a
major technology transition on the framework side.
- Led the project, and its volunteer developers and visual
artists, from Plone's inception to its present status as a
leading open source Content Management System (CMS).
- Developed lightweight processes and procedures to organize over
100 developers in 25 countries in numerous sub-projects to
deliver a cross-browser, standards compliant CMS.
- Aligned Plone with accessibility standards
for blind and motor-impaired individuals. This effort led to
widespread government standardization on Plone in several
countries, including New Zealand and Brazil.
- Instrumental in creating Plone Foundation, a non-profit
that protects and promotes Plone, trademarks and
intellectual property. Negotiated initial funding with a
major industry player.

- Supported a team by coordinating
geographically distributed development and developed a
specialized tool to maximize development efficiency.
- Developed customer-centric user interfaces for clients
as diverse as the Norwegian Media Authorities, Statoil (a
major oil company), Ibas (the world's leading data recovery
company, recently acquired by Ontrack) as well as the
Norwegian Consumer Council.
- Led business development efforts, conducted competitive
analysis and incorporated research into product development.
- Created course material for developer training and delivered
this training to several large businesses.

Innovative climate control company
- User Interface Design Lead for a smart-house system. Worked
with visual designer and developer team members to deliver
an end-user ready controller device for managing an
“intelligent house”.
- Rapid prototyping of the system using Python.
- Initiated and led an effort to simplify the user experience with the
product by reducing both the number of user interface
elements and physical components in the main controller.
- Based on the results of usability testing and participatory
design, the new design allowed the smart house to be
controlled with five buttons instead of the previous fifteen.

years running, and also considered it one of the top six
enterprise applications in any category.
- The EContent 100 lists Plone as one of only two open source CMS
projects, and ranks it among the top 15 ECMs in the world.
- Plone is one of the few successful community-driven
CMSes. Most other systems are tied to a particular company,
whereas Plone is 100% community-driven.

- Plone has been translated into 35 languages, and there are 6
